Broad Street Pedestrian Safety Improvements - Tulane Avenue to Lafitte Greenway

The Safe Routes to Public Places Program (SRTPPP) project is part of the overall Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Under this guise the City of New Orleans – Department of Public Works is working in tandem to ensure pedestrian and mobility safety.  The scope of work includes pedestrian traffic signalization, concrete walkways, curb ramps, high visibility crosswalks, and concrete pavement.

Tulane Avenue to Lafitte Greenway Scope of Work:

  • Installation of a pedestrian signalization at major intersections
  • Installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections of St. Bernard Ave.
  • Curbing improvements along Broad Street in project dedicated area (Tulane Avenue and the Lafitte Greenway.
  • High visibility crosswalks along major intersections: Tulane Ave and Broad St, Canal St and Broad St, Bienville St and Broad St, and Broad St and The Lafitte Greenway.
