Planning District Public Meeting Materials

Planning District Presentations

The City Planning Commission held ten public meetings in the planning districts October 1 through 17, 2013. At each of these meetings, a general presentation was made that included slides tailored to the particular planning district. These presentations may be viewed or downloaded below.

Progression Maps

At each of the ten public meetings held October 1 through 17 in the planning districts, maps were displayed that show the existing zoning, Master Plan Future Land Use designation, and proposed draft zoning.  These maps are referred to as “Progression Maps,” as they show the progression from existing zoning to the draft zoning. Just like the Draft Zoning Maps, the color of the land or water areas shows the proposed draft zoning. Additionally, these maps contain a grouping of three labels within areas bordered by thick black lines. The top label, in black font, shows the existing zoning. The middle label, in blue font, shows the Master Plan’s Future Land Use Map designation for the area. The bottom label, in red font, shows the proposed draft zoning district.

The labels are symbols (letter-number combinations) for the full district name.  For reference, the symbols and the full district name may be viewed below.

Overlay Zoning Districts

At each of the ten public meetings held October 1 through 17 in the planning districts, maps were displayed that show the proposed overlay zoning districts. These districts – described in Article 18 of the Draft Zoning Ordinance – include Use Restriction, Character Preservation, Transformation and Enhancement Design Overlays, Arts & Cultural, Residential Diversity, and Riverfront Overlay Districts.
