The City of New Orleans

Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu

Property Owner Resources

If you own a property that is under investigation or found guilty, several resources may be of use:

  • Permits and Certificates required by the City of New Orleans and how to apply
  • Ordinances of the City of New Orleans, which include housing standards and information about blight
  • Lien Forgiveness Requests (click link to download application) - The City of New Orleans is committed to bringing non-compliant properties back into commerce and is continuously seeking and implementing innovative approaches to help realize our shared goal of a clean, safe, and beautiful city. The Code Enforcement and Hearings Bureau is pleased to formally launch the Lien Forgiveness Program (formerly known as the Lien Waiver process). The Lien Forgiveness Program provides a streamlined, transparent process for removing liens on properties which  will be renovated and identifies upfront which liens will be forgiven upon a successful renovation, so that prospective buyers can make informed decisions and existing homeowners are further incentivized to make needed repairs. We expect the Lien Forgiveness program to serve as a vital tool in eradicating blight in the City of New Orleans. For a copy of the Lien Forgiveness Request form, click the link.
  • Fighting Blight: An Explanation of the Process
  • Hearing Division phone number: (504) 658-5050
  • City of New Orleans Minimum Property Maintenance Code
