National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention
In September 2012, New Orleans was chosen through a competitive application process to join the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention (the Forum), a White House initiative to prevent youth violence. New Orleans, along with Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and Camden, NJ, joins the six original Forum sites (Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, Tenn., Salinas, Calif., and San Jose, Calif.) in an effort to reduce youth violence and gang activity and improve public safety. The Forum is a network of communities and federal agencies that share information and support local efforts to prevent and reduce youth violence.
In Fall 2013, the New Orleans Health Department will release a strategic plan at a national conference as part of their participation in the Forum. In the meantime, check this page for progress updates.
