The City of New Orleans

Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu

Mobile Devices

The City of New Orleans through the Information Technology and Innovation Department is spearheading an initiative to secure access to our information networks by mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc).  We plan to launch this through

  1. an updated CAO policy, 60 (R) “Wireless Communication Device Policy”,
  2. a Mobile Device Management (“MDM”) application, and
  3. a Bring Your Own Device (“BYOD”) program.

The Mobile Device Management (“MDM”) application provides a range of solutions to help secure our networks.  It allows the City to remotely wipe work-related information on a device in the event that it is lost or stolen, if there are 10 failed login attempts, or if the employee is terminated or resigns.  It also allows ITI to manage the number of devices connected to the network. The MDM also allows personal devices to properly and securely connect to resources such as email. To learn more about the policy and requirements including the use of MDM, please see the  Frequently Asked Questions

To get started, follow these simple steps:

1) ACTIVATE your new device (if applicable)
2) REGISTER for Mobile Device Management (MDM)
3) INSTALL the MDM app on your device
