Case Manager

Contract Position

DUTIES:

The Case Manager will provide assessments, case management, and crisis intervention for court-involved youth and their family members.

  • Conduct biopsychosocial/ needs assessments and assessments for human trafficking, trauma, and substance abuse.
  • Provide extensive case management, crisis intervention, and referrals to youth who are identified as victims of human trafficking and other forms of child abuse and trauma.
  • Coordinate a tiered screening process, designed to identify youth victims at all points of system interaction.
  • Coordinate a tiered screening process to identify youth, at all points of system interaction who have experienced, human trafficking and child abuse.
  • Review all tier 1 screens (all youth receive a tier 1 screen when they come through OPJC intake center) and provide an in-depth tier 2 assessment to youth when risk for human trafficking or child abuse is identified (tier 2 screenings result in safety planning and crisis intervention when necessary and case management and referral to service).
  • Provide support to the trust-based relational intervention (TBRI) practitioner in the sensory calming studio.
  • Work with youth in the calming studio to develop coping skills, practice self-regulatory techniques, and reduce fear and anxiety around coming to court.
  • Complete quarterly grant reports, recruit and maintain logs for volunteer and intern time.
  • Provide training to OPJC and community partners on human trafficking and mandatory reporting of child abuse and neglect.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.


JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in related field (counseling, sociology, interdisciplinary studies, child development). With experience working with youth who have experienced trauma or abuse and their caregivers.
  • Must have experience working with child and adolescent victims of human trafficking and child abuse and have a strong understanding of the intersection between abuse and juvenile justice involvement.
  • Must be able to function in a high-stress environment with families from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Must be patient, compassionate, and passionate about working with children who have experienced trauma. Must have self-care plan in place. Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Strong understanding of child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Awareness of local community resources to serve youth victims of crime and non-offending family members.

RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Incumbent performs duties according to a flexible, customary routine with priorities determined by the Judge, Judicial Administrator, TBRI Practitioner, needs of the court and the public.
