NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, the City of New Orleans was informed by the Court that the final NOPD Consent Decree Monitor meeting originally scheduled for today has been postponed to May 14, 2013. On Monday, a joint motion to postpone the meeting was filed to allow the parties additional time to reach an agreement. The court notified parties this morning that it will issue an order postponing the meeting today.
The Court’s order indicating the new date and time for the meeting will be posted in accordance with open meetings law.
After discussing the five remaining proposals and hearing public comment at the April 3rd meeting, the City and U.S. Department of Justice announced that the firms Hillard Heintze of Chicago and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton of Washington, D.C., are the two finalists for the consent decree monitor.
