City issues reminder of parking instructions and traffic restrictions in advance of the 2013 Jazz Half Marathon And Children’s Cancer Walk

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the 2013 Jazz Half Marathon, 5-K and Children's Cancer Walk slated for Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The event is expected to draw up to 4,000 runners. 

Half Marathon Race
The Half Marathon will start on Camp at S. Maestri Place. Continue on Camp to St. Joseph Street turn left on St. Joseph, continue to Convention Center Blvd. Turn right on Convention Center Blvd., continue to intersection with Gaienne Street. U-turn to other side of Convention Center Blvd., and continue to Poydras Street. Turn left on Poydras, continue to Clara Street. Make U-turn to other side of Poydras Street and continue river bound on Poydras to St. Charles Avenue. Continue on St. Charles Avenue to Audubon Park. Enter Audubon Park and continue around park loop jogging pathway between St. Charles Avenue and Magazine Street. Exit Audubon Park onto St. Charles Avenue and continue in downtown direction on St. Charles Avenue. Turn right from St. Charles onto Andrew Higgins Street. Turn left onto Camp Street; continue on Camp to Finish line at intersection with S. Maestri.

5-K Race
After the start of the Half Marathon, the 5-K race will begin. The 5-K race course will follow the same route as the Half Marathon, except the 5-K runners will proceed river bound on Poydras to Camp Street, turn right on Camp Street to N. Maestri St where the event will end.

Children’s Cancer Walk
This is a separate walk event that will start at 8:30 a.m. on Poydras Street at Camp Street. The course will proceed up Poydras to Clara Street, and then back on Poydras to Camp Street and finish line.

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.

In addition, RTA services, including streetcar lines and bus service may be interrupted during these events. Details on route changes are available at www.norta.com.
