NEW ORLEANS, LA— TOMORROW, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will host the first NOLA FOR LIFEJobs & Opportunity Expo, designed to connect youth between the ages of 16 to 30 to viable employment opportunities and essential resources. Over 30 local employers will be offering more than 325 jobs that require no more than a GED or High School Diploma in the following growing industries: public administration, transportation and logistics, hospitality, recreation, construction, manufacturing and retail. The free expo will also feature on-site interviews for job vacancies, job readiness workshops, networking with industry professionals and a resource fair with connections to social services and local colleges and universities.
The event will take place from 10am to 2pm at Gallier Hall, located at 545 St Charles Avenue.
Expo participants will have access to resources provided by NOLA FOR LIFE partners, JOB1 Business and Career Solutions Centers and nearly 30 local institutions, including information on occupational skill development and full-time employment. Workshops focusing on resume writing and interviewing, business etiquette and attire and mock interviews, will also be available to participants.
Sponsors for the NOLA FOR LIFE Jobs & Opportunity include the Office of the Mayor, the Office of Economic Development, JOB1 Business & Career Solutions Center, the Office of Workforce Development, Goodwill Industries and the federal Office of Probation and Parole. Partnerships with the Louisiana Office of Corrections, the Regional Transit Authority the Louisiana Workforce Commission and numerous NOLA FOR LIFE social service partners have also helped to make the event possible.
