NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued filming notices to New Orleans residents in New Orleans East.
On Thursday, March 13, 2014, a production company will be filming scenes in New Orleans East in a private lot between Morrison Road and the I-10 Service Road. The sequence being filmed involves special effects containing controlled fire that will reach an approximate height of 150 feet. Filming will take place between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and will be conducted under the supervision of the New Orleans Fire Department.
On Thursday, March 13 and Friday, March 14, 2014 beginning at 9:00 a.m., a production company will be performing a pyrotechnics test consisting of a minor explosion with a minimal concussion on the back lot of the Lake Forest Plaza Shopping Center on Read Blvd. This pyrotechnics test will be conducted under the supervision of the New Orleans Fire Department.
Film New Orleans within the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy assists productions with the City’s permitting process, connects productions with local crew and resources, and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.
In 2013, New Orleans hosted 60 tax credit film projects (TV, films, and commercials with budgets over $300,000), with direct spending of $456 million.
