NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City announced that it will hold a Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at New Orleans Mosquito, Termite, and Rodent Control Board’s office located at 2100 Leon C. Simon Boulevard.
The City’s Department of Sanitation, the Office of Supplier Diversity, and the Office of Workforce Development/JOB1 are hosting the informational fair in conjunction with the City’s current disaster recovery contractors responsible for debris removal and monitoring.
The City is committed to providing opportunities to local individuals and businesses who may be interested in helping the City recover from a disaster such as a hurricane, should one occur. The Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair will help the City identify individuals and businesses that may be able to assist with these efforts.
At the event, information will be provided regarding the basic requirements to pre-qualify to work with the City’s contractors. Companies with equipment such as tandem trucks (at least 18 cubic yards), self-loaders, roll-offs, bulldozers, forestry trucks, skid steers .and front end loaders interested in subcontracting opportunities and individuals (over the age of 18) interested in working as debris removal monitors, are welcome. All interested individuals and businesses, especially small and local businesses and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) are strongly encouraged to attend.
