NEW ORLEANS - Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for Central City. Beginning today, Jackson Avenue between St. Charles and S. Claiborne Avenues will temporarily close one travel lane for approximately two weeks. The City’s Department of Public Works contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, will begin placing new asphalt as part of the Jackson Avenue Infrastructure Improvements Project.
- Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, and lasting until Monday, Jan. 9, river-bound traffic on Jackson Avenue will be detoured to Carondelet Street (See attached map for full detour).
- Beginning, Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 and lasting until Monday, Jan. 16, lake-bound traffic on Jackson Avenue will be detoured to St. Charles Avenue (See attached map for full detour).
The scope of work includes removing and replacing the top three inches of asphalt pavement. The Community Development Block Grant is funding this project.
In general, construction crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work on the weekends is not anticipated; however, inclement weather may alter the project schedule. Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near construction sites.
