Changes to Mardi Gras Parade Schedule for Monday, Feb. 16

NEW ORLEANS—The City of New Orleans announced today that Mardi Gras parades scheduled for Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, will begin earlier in anticipation of bad weather that evening. The Krewe of Proteus will begin at 4 p.m. instead of 5:15 p.m., and the Krewe of Orpheus will begin at 4:45 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

City Hall Closed Tuesday for Mardi Gras Holiday

NEW ORLEANS -- The City of New Orleans announced today that City Hall will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, in observance of the Mardi Gras holiday. Emergency personnel will operate as normal and will not be affected by this closure. City Hall will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015.

Parking Instructions in Advance of Mardi Gras Celebrations

City Celebrates Opening of New NOFD Engine 31 Fire Station in Venetian Isles

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City officials and FEMA celebrated the opening of the new NOFD Engine 31 Fire Station at 4300 Alba Road in Venetian Isles. The $3.7 million facility is over 7,800 square feet and provides enhanced fire protection to the Venetian Isles and Lake Catherine communities. The new facility replaces the previous 5,900-square-foot fire station that was built in 1975 and flooded during Hurricane Katrina.

New NOFD Engine 31 Fire Station Opens in Venetian Isles

NEW ORLEANS – On Tuesday, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join City officials and FEMA to celebrate the opening of the new $3.7 million NOFD Engine 31 Fire Station at 4300 Alba Road in Venetian Isles. The new 7,500-square-foot fire station is a state-of-the-art hurricane resilient facility and replaces the old fire station destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.

Copa Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service Between New Orleans and Panama

Panama City, Panama, Feb. 05, 2015Copa Airlines, subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A., {NYSE: CPA} and member of the Star Alliance global airline network, today announced it will begin nonstop service four times a week between New Orleans, La., and Panama, Republic of Panama, on June 24, 2015.  New Orleans will be Copa Airlines’ 11th U.S. destination and its 71st overall.

City Announces Preparation in Advance of 2015 Mardi Gras

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, the City of New Orleans provided updates on preparations as well as reminders of parking instructions, traffic restrictions and safety regulations in advance of the 2015 Mardi Gras season. Parades are scheduled to begin Friday, Feb. 6, 2015.

All Artist 'A' Jackson Square Permits Have Been Renewed

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans today announced that no new Artist A permits will be issued in 2015 to sell art on Jackson Square. City code sets the maximum number of Artist A permits at 200 that are renewable each January. Since all 200 Artist A permits have been renewed, there are no remaining Artist A permits available to new applicants. The deadline to renew an Artist A permit was today, Feb. 2.
