NOPD Essence Crime Prevention Outreach

(July 2, 2014)-Members of the Crime Prevention Unit are assigned in the French Quarters for the Essence Festival /4th of July Holiday.  As with previous special assignments in the French Quarters, the Crime Prevention Unit team usually conducts numerous Area and Business Checks along with their regular special assignment duties.  They provide businesses, residents, guests and tourists with community service and safety information.          

On Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 5:00 pm, beginning in the 100 block of Bourbon Street, Crime Prevention Unit members, 8th District officers and R.E.S.E.T. (Rapid Engagement of Support in the Event of Trauma) participants will conduct an Area Check from the 100 - 800 block of Bourbon Street.  The group will supply the residents, business owners / employees, tourists, and guests with the following:

  • Various Crime Prevention Pamphlets 
  • Community Service and Awareness Information
  • “Silence Is Violence” Services
  • NOPD’s Victim / Witness Unit Services  
  • R.E.S.E.T. Program Information   
  • Business Watch Information / Registration      
  • Children’s Bureau Services
  • Neighborhood Watch Information  / Registration
  • D.A.’s Victim / Witness Unit Services  
  • “Night Out Against Crime” Information / Registration
  • And Much More
