NOPD OFFICER PLACED ON EMERGENCY SUSPENSION WITHOUT PAY

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, the NOPD announced that Detective Robert Hurst has been placed on emergency suspension without pay based on a Public Integrity Bureau (PIB) investigation into allegations of domestic abuse.

PIB launched an investigation on April 25, 2014 after receiving a complaint. The investigation is on-going.

In conjunction with the PIB investigation, today the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office filed a Bill of Information on Hurst for Criminal Charges of R.S. 14:(27) 30.1 relative to Attempted Second Degree Murder and R.S. 14: 35.3 relative to Simple Battery.

Hurst is a 10-year veteran of the NOPD and was most recently assigned to the Fifth District.
