(August 01, 2014) New Orleans Police are investigating a Hit and Run Fatality that left 37-year-old Daphne Cola in critical condition and later died at the hospital. The accident occurred Sunday July 27,2014, just before midnight, at the intersection of North Claiborne Ave and Columbus Street.
Around 11:30pm, an African American male and female were travelling on an ATV at a high rate of speed on North Claiborne Ave. The driver lost control of the ATV and struck Cola and a parked vehicle. The ATV flipped several times ejecting the driver and his female passenger onto the roadway. Both the driver and passenger walked away from the wreckage and never returned.
The driver of the ATV is only described as an African American man wearing a dark shirt with writing on the front and dark shorts. The female passenger was possibly wearing light colored clothing.
Attached are photos of the ATV used in the incident and detectives are asking for help in identifying and locating the driver of the ATV the night of the incident.
