The French Quarter Management District (FQMD), with funding provided by several French Quarter businesses, recently donated five Honda Scooters to the NOPD’s Eighth District.
The French Quarter Management District (FQMD) is a State entity created by the Legislature as a means for the residential and business communities to work together to protect, preserve and maintain the world famous French Quarter as a safe, clean, vibrant and friendly neighborhood for residents, businesses and visitors. Under the leadership of Robert Watters, the FQMD recently entered into a Cooperative Endeavour Agreement (CEA) with the City of New Orleans to provide additional resource for the 8th District NOPD.
The business community donated $30,000 to FQMD and Commander Walls of the 8th District NOPD identified items that would supplement their existing resources. The FQMD Security Task Force, under the leadership of Bob Simms, managed and coordinated the project and purchased 5 Honda scooters, 5 Apple iPads’, and other computer supplies for donation to the 8th District.
This project is another example of how FQMD working together with NOPD can make the French Quarter a safer place for visitors, residents, and businesses.
