The New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Section is investigating a fatality that left a 6-year-old girl dead. The incident occurred shortly after noon near the I-10W/Morrison Road exit.
A 36-year-old woman was traveling westbound on I-10W in a Chevrolet Suburban when for reasons unknown, after passing the Morrison Road exit, she lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times. The 6-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle and died en route to the hospital. The vehicle was also occupied with three other girls, ages 6, 9, and 10-years-old. The woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition while the three girls were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Charges against the driver are pending.
Fatality Investigator Kevin Thompson is in charge of the investigation.
