Michael Mims of the Goretti Playground baseball team won the overall championship in the Pitch Hit & Run sectional championship held in St. Gabriel, Louisiana. He will now move forward to the Regional Competition that will be held in Houston TX. Congratulations!

2015 RBI/NORDC Pitch Hit & Run

Free official skills competition of Major League Baseball - May 9 at 9:30am

NORDC will launch it baseball and softball season with the Pitch Hit & Run competition and a city-wide Jamboree. The event will feature girls and boys youth baseball and softball teams participating in a three- inning scrimmage and Pitch Hit Run competition.

Kenilworth Playground:  boys baseball ages 5-6

Conrad Playground:  boys baseball ages 7-8

Lakeview Playground:  boys baseball ages 9-10

Milne Playground:  boys baseball ages 11-12

St. Roch Park:  boys baseball ages 13-15

McDonogh Playground:  girls softball ages 9-15


How to participate

The event is open to all youth registered for NORDC baseball or softball.  Those not registered may register at the event.


Goals for NORDC participation in Pitch Hit & Run

•Grow youth baseball and softball
•Provide a positive experience for NORDC youth and a platform for regional and national exposure

NORDC/RBI Classic Showcase

July 18 at Wesley Barrow Stadium
NORDC and Baton Rouge RBI teams will participate



About NORDC Baseball

The RBI program is a Major League Baseball youth initiative designed to provide opportunities to play baseball and softball, to encourage excellence and achievement in education, and to teach the value of teamwork and other important life lessons for young people, ages 5 to 18, from underserved and urban communities.

Senior Team go to Houston for the Southwest Regionals July 24-27, Junior Team Wins USSSA Championship on May 31.

The Senior NORDC/RBI Travel Team will go to the RBI Southwest Regionals July 24-27 in Houston. The participating youth will also get to see the Houston Astros play the Miami Marlins on Friday night, courtesy of MLB.

The Junior NORDC/RBI team's win at the USSSA Baseball tournament in Chalmette, LA, advanced them to the Major League Baseball's inaugural Jr. RBI Classic showcases in Houston where they not only won the championship, they got a “major league” experience. They attended two Astros games, including a Civil Rights Game where they absorbed impactful history. Texas Southern housed the teams for the weekend, with talks from professors and coaches included in the stay. The showcase not only allowed the participants to interact with other kids from other cities, it allowed them to branch out of their environment and see new things.  Details here
