POOL UPDATE  The Treme Recreation Community Center pool is now open!  All repairs to pool are complete.  All renovations are in full compliance with the City Code. New ADA compliant pool accessible steps have been installed in addition to the hydraulic pool lift. Pool equipment is being closely monitored to ensure proper function.  We sincerely thank you for your patience during the repair process.

Activities & Classes

Adult Exercise with Teddy Harkness    
Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-6:30pm
Drop in anytime on this fun and invigorating and fun class!  Teddy Harkness, the jovial instructor, leads the class through cardio moves and core strengthening exercises.  Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace.    

Casa Samba
Adults $10 per class; Free for 18 & under and Seniors
Discounts and Scholarships available for Students over the age 19
Monday 7-9  Private rehearsal
Tuesday & Thursday 7pm-9pm  Intermediate to Advanced Samba Dance
Saturday 9:30am-12noon  Kids Samba Drumming and Stiltwalking

Friday 5:45-7pm 
September 29, 2014 through May 2015.  Registration is ongoing. Experience recommended but not required. Comfortable dance or exercise attire is recommended. The Lester Horton Technique is a rigorous and strength-building modern dance technique used by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.  Focus on fortifying basic Horton Technique skills including Primitive Squat Descent, Deep Forward Lunges, Flatbacks, Laterals, Release Swings, Hinges, Prances, Pulls, Triplets, Leg Swings, Tilts, Tables and Double Attitude Jumps.

Friday 7:15-8:30pm
September 29, 2014 through May 2015.  Registration is ongoing.

No experience necessary.  Comfortable dance or exercise attire is recommended. A full skirt is recommended.  Learn basic folkloric movements from two of the many nations/families in Haiti.  Class includes occasionally viewing video of the dances in their traditional contexts.

The purpose of STEM NOLA is to expose, inspire and engage the community in the opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).  “STEM Saturdays with Dr. Mackie" is one component of STEM NOLA that will provide city wide family and community based hands-on academic each month. details
