What?

During monthly BlightSTAT meetings, City leaders and managers review performance results related to Mayor Landrieu’s strategy to reduce blighted units by 10,000 by the end of 2014.

Managers use the data from BlightSTAT to identify solutions, make adjustments, and improve overall performance.

Who?

In BlightSTAT, the OPA works with departments to develop performance measures and targets, prepares the analyses and reports, coordinates the public meetings, and follows up on identified action items to improve performance.

Departments that present data and analysis at BlightSTAT include:

Department of Code Enforcement

Office of Community Development

Office of Information Technology and Innovation

Law Department

New Orleans Redevelopment Authority

When?

BlightSTAT meetings are generally held every second Thursday of the month. During BlightSTAT meetings citizens can:

  • Review performance related to Mayor Landrieu’s blight reduction strategy to track the results that they are getting for their tax dollars, and hold officials accountable for their progress.
  • Submit questions and comments for discussion at the end of the presentation

All BlightSTAT meetings are open to the public. View a full calendar of BlightSTAT meetings here.

Recognition

In 2012, the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Ash Center recognized the City’s blight reduction strategy, of which BlightSTAT is a major component, as a “Bright Idea in Government.”

The Bright Ideas initiative is designed to recognize and promote creative government initiatives and partnerships and create an online community where innovative ideas can be proposed, shared, and disseminated.
