Vieux Carré Commission Design Guidelines

In 1986, the Commission adopted Design Guidelines that set forth procedures and city ordinances relating to the Vieux Carré historic district awnings, paving, lighting, security treatments for window, gates and fences, roofing, painting, air-conditioning and exterior mechanical equipment, skylights and more.

The Vieux Carré Commission is currently in the midst of updating the design guidelines, however, links below offer downloadable PDFs of existing guidelines, and any persons interested in doing work on a property in the Vieux Carré Commission may email the VCC staff with questions.

The complete printed guide is available from the Commission's office at a nominal charge.

The Vieux Carré Commission in conjunction with the Vieux Carré Commission Foundation has drafted revised guidelines currently awaiting final approval from the City Council.

You may preview the draft of the revised VCC Design Guidelines here.
