Crescent City ID is Here

The Crescent City ID is the official photo ID for all residents of New Orleans. It helps make our city more welcoming. It also gives everyone easier access to city services and local businesses.

More Than Just an ID

More than just an ID, your Crescent City ID works in several ways. It is your New Orleans Public Library card, New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Rec Trac card, and gives discounts at participating local businesses.

Who Can Get One

All New Orleans residents, ages 10 and up. IDs are good for 6 years for adults and 3 years for minors. You can add important information on your card like emergency contact information, medical conditions such as allergies or disabilities, preferred language, preferred name, veteran status, and organ donor status.

How to get an ID

Starting September 6th 2025, you can get your Crescent City ID. You can visit a mobile pop-up location in the city. You can also book an appointment online.

Attend a Pop-up Event

Mobile pop-up sites are scheduled weekly where you can obtain a Crescent City ID more conveniently. Please see our calendar of events to find an event near you and follow our social media links to obtain the latest news on where these sites will be located. We’d love to hear your feedback on potential pop-up sites that would best serve our community. Please email crescentcityID@nola.gov or complete this form with suggestions on where to offer mobile pop up.

Schedule an Appointment

Once you schedule your appointment online using this link, you will receive a confirmation number that you must bring to your appointment. This confirmation number will be the only information we have connected to you. Prior to your appointment, you can download and print the application. Should you not wish to print an application in advance, paper applications will be available at the appointment site.

Required Documents

To apply for a Crescent City ID, you must provide proof of your identity including your name, date of birth, and photo as well as proof of residency in New Orleans.

Please visit our Crescent City ID - Applicant Document Guide for a list of approved documents to bring with you. This Document Guide is available in Spanish and Vietnamese. The documents that you bring will be used to tally a score that shows that you are the person who is applying and that you live in the City of New Orleans. These documents will be visually verified by one of our Specialist. No documents or information from these documents will be stored in our system. Data entered will only be used to populate the fields on the ID. That data is wiped from memory as soon as an ID is printed unless you choose to opt in to storing your ID data for the purposes of replacing your ID.

During the day of your application, you will notice that your documents might be scanned. This scan is only a visual verification to ensure that the documentation - Driver's License or Passport you are presenting is authentic. Again, no information from these documents will be stored in the system without your consent.

The Crescent City ID does not authorize driving, serve as a federal or state-issued ID, allow voter registration (though it may be used as identification at the polls if you are already registered), permit travel, access to federal buildings, the purchase of alcohol or tobacco, or entry into bars or casinos.

Free. It is free of charge to eligible residents of Orleans Parish!

The Crescent City ID is a city government issued, multi-purpose identification card  available to all New Orleans residents who can prove their identity and residency in New Orleans. It includes optional emergency and medical information, provides enhanced access to city services, functions as a  New Orleans Public Library and New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) card, and offers discounts at participating local businesses and much more!

Anyone age 10 or older who currently resides in Orleans Parish can apply for a Crescent City ID!

You can apply for a Crescent City ID at one of our public pop-up events, or by appointment at the Crescent City ID office located at 800 Race Street, New Orleans, LA.

Yes! Children as young as 10 years old can obtain a Crescent City ID with the consent of a parent or guardian who can provide the required documentation or at a partnering Orleans Parish school

You can attend an event or schedule an appointment online to replace your Crescent City ID at our office, located at 800 Race Street, New Orleans, LA. You will need to resubmit your required documents. If you previously chose to have your Crescent City ID information retained, you won’t need to resubmit documents, just come to your appointment or an event and we’ll reissue your ID.

The Crescent City ID card is open to all Orleans Parish residents including children and youth, with an expiration date of six years for adults and three years for minors.
