In RAVE, roadwork alerts will come from the following number: 504-732-0500.

When you create a profile, you can choose what kinds of alerts you would like to receive. That includes:

  • Emergency alerts, including severe weather, boil water advisories, hazardous material incidents, public safety incidents, and storm preparedness.
  • COVID updates, including info on vaccines, restrictions, and resources.
  • Road work alerts, including when work will require major closures, water shutoffs, or other significant impacts.

If you sign up with the keyword NOLAREADY, you will receive severe thunderstorm, flash flood, tornado, tropical storm, and hurricane warnings when issued by the National Weather Service. If you would like to receive more specific weather alerts, we encourage you to use a service such as AccuWeather.

When you provide information about your household, family members, pets, and medical information, 9-1-1 operators and first responders will be better able to assist you in the event of an emergency. To protect your privacy, your information is only available to 9-1-1 and first responders when you, or someone connected to your profile, dial 9-1-1. The information is available for only 45 minutes from the time you dial 9-1-1.

In addition to being available in numerous parishes across the state, Smart911 is a national service, meaning that your information is available during a 9-1-1 call anywhere you are traveling if that local 9-1-1 center also uses the service.

This service is provided by the City of New Orleans at no cost to the public; however, message and data rates may apply depending on your provider and phone services. This service is provided per the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

No, your information is private and will not be used or distributed in any manner. The information that you provide is exempt from public disclosure and will be used for emergency purposes only.

Beginning in April 2022, you will be able to add medical information into your Smart911 profile. The City of New Orleans Health Department recommends that all residents add medical information to Smart911, especially if you have a disability, rely on electricity-dependent medical equipment, or if you have mobility needs. This will enable you to receive customized alerts and resources that may be available during all types of emergencies, including hurricane evacuations, extended power outages, flood events, and more.
