"Treme" Screening & Talkback at Gallier Hall

Join Film New Orleans on Friday, August 22, at Gallier Hall’s Ty Tracy Theater (545 St. Charles Ave) for a special screening of HBO's Treme in honor of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, followed by a conversation with cast members and cultural leaders.

Treme follows residents—from musicians and chefs to Mardi Gras Indians and community leaders—as they rebuild their lives, homes, culture, and traditions while navigating profound loss and change in the months after Katrina. The series features a standout ensemble, including many native New Orleanians, and showcases musical performances by local artists.

BET's 20 Summers: Rebuilding the Rhythm of New Orleans

Created by Yesha Callahan, Head of Content for BET Media Group, 20 Summers is a poignant 15-minute digital special alongside 2 editorials commemorating the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Through archival footage, evocative interviews, and immersive on-the-ground storytelling, the film amplifies the voices of New Orleans artists who endured the storm, remained rooted in its aftermath, and used their art to envision a stronger future for the city.

Produced in collaboration with local visionaries Blair and Brandon Dottin-Haley of The Blairisms, with cinematography by Khalif Breaux and editing by Richardson Roberts, 20 Summers carries an authenticity that reflects the lived experience of the city’s creatives. Motion graphics were crafted by BET’s in-house design team, led by Corey Manning.
