TONIGHT: NEW ORLEANS EAST RESIDENTS GET UPDATE ON MOVING NEW ORLEANS BIKE NETWORK BLUEPRINT
NEW ORLEANS – The Mayor's Office of Transportation, in coordination with the Department of Public Works, invites New Orleans East residents to attend a community meeting tonight to receive updates on the blueprint for a city-wide, low-stress bikeway network as part of Moving New Orleans Bikes (MNOB).
The meeting will be held at the East New Orleans Regional Library (5641 Read Blvd.), from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. This initiative, part of the broader Moving New Orleans transportation vision laid out by Mayor LaToya Cantrell, will dramatically and rapidly expand safe, accessible biking and walking throughout New Orleans neighborhoods.
Earlier this year, the City held a series of eight community meetings and offered an online tool to shape the future of the citywide bikeway network. City staff received feedback on how people get around the City, important destinations, and issues and situations that make bicycling, walking, and driving difficult. Attendees at this round will hear what the City learned from the community, see the proposed future bikeway network, learn about initial build opportunities, and have an opportunity to provide feedback.
Representatives from Bike Easy, New Links, RoadWork NOLA and Blue Bikes also will be on hand.
