City issues filming notice

June 15, 2012

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued a filming notice to New Orleans residents.

On Saturday, June 16th a production crew will be conducting filming at 925 Jackson Avenue, from approximately 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  This filming will involve simulated gunfire.

There will also be restricted parking on certain adjacent blocks. “No Parking” signs will be posted in the following locations:

•           900 Block of Josephine St. (both sides) between Laurel St. and Constance St. (5:30 p.m.-8 a.m.)

•           900 Block of Jackson Ave. (both sides) between Laurel St. and Constance St. (12 p.m.-8 a.m.)

•           1000 Block of Jackson Ave. (downtown side) between Constance St and Magazine St. (12 p.m.-8 a.m.)

Uniformed officers will be on hand to ensure public safety and to facilitate the production crew’s work. They will be holding traffic intermittently for intervals of 3 to 5 minutes.

Film New Orleans assists productions with the City’s permitting process, connects productions with local crew and resources, and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.

In 2011, $531 million was spent locally in the film industry during both filming and post-production, contributing significantly to the New Orleans economy by creating jobs.
