Justice Department and City of New Orleans re-open submission period for proposals to serve as Consent Decree Monitor of the New Orleans Police Department

November 14, 2012

NEW ORLEANS, LA--The United States and the City of New Orleans have re-opened the submission period for responding to the Request for Proposals (RFP) to monitor the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), pursuant to a proposed consent decree regarding the NOPD.  The deadline for submissions is now Nov. 16, 2012 at 5 p.m. CST.  The deadline for application for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification also has been extended to Nov. 16, 2012, at 5 p.m. CST.

Both the department and city of New Orleans agreed to extend the submission deadline after learning that some interested entities were unaware that the RFP had been issued and after receiving substantially fewer proposals than other recent monitoring requests for proposals. To ensure fairness to those who already have submitted proposals, the RFP allows those candidates to supplement their submissions until the new Nov. 16, 2012, deadline.

Information regarding the case (United States v. City of New Orleans, Case No. 12-1924), the proposed Consent Decree, and the RFP are available at:
