NEW ORLEANS, LA— On Monday, December 17, at approximately 9 a.m. the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works will convert traffic on the portion of South Derbigny Street, from Gravier Street to Tulane Avenue, from its current one-way directional status to two-way operation.
This modification will help improve patient access to the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium which is located in the downtown biosciences district. This conversion is being done on a six month trial basis, during which time the DPW will monitor the effects of the change.
The traffic change was recommended as a part of a 2005 study discussing access to the cancer center. DPW will post new directional traffic signs designating this segment of road as two-way.
A map showing this traffic change is attached to this press release.
