NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy issued a filming notice to New Orleans residents.
A production company will conduct filming downtown from 8 pm on Friday, January 18 to approximately 2 am on Saturday January 19. In order to facilitate filming, the Poydras Street river-bound will be restricted to one lane from Camp Stree to South Peters Street. Poydras Street lake-bound will be restricted to one lane from South Peters Street to Magazine Street. Additionally, traffic on Tchoupitoulas Street will be held periodically at Natchez Street for three to five minutes to accommodate filming.
Film New Orleans assists productions with the City’s permitting process, connects productions with local crew and resources, and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.
In 2012, New Orleans hosted 61 tax credit film projects (TV, films and commercials with budgets over $300,000), with direct spending of $669.8 million. In 2011, New Orleans hosted 46 tax credit projects with an estimated $544 million in direct spending.
