City of New Orleans to break ground on new Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Golf Course Club House

June 18, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City and State officials, and FEMA will break ground on the new Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Golf Course Club House at 6514 Congress Drive in Pontchartrain Park. The old club house was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and was demolished last month. The new $4.3 million club house will include cart storage and community classroom.

In November 2011, the City reopened the fully renovated, $9 million Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Municipal Golf Course in Pontchartrain Park. The golf course is an 18-hole, par 72-course measuring between 5,314 to 6,823 yards. Originally opened as the Pontchartrain Golf Course in 1956, the Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Golf Municipal Course was renovated in 1979 and renamed to honor the first African-American inducted in the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
