NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans Department of Parks and Parkways announced that it is offering special summer prices at the Joseph Bartholomew, Sr. Municipal Golf Course at 6514 Congress Drive in Pontchartrain Park. From now through August 31st, the golf course will offer twilight fees of $25 all day from Tuesday thru Thursday. The special is good for 18 holes and includes a golf cart. Additional holes are subject to the replay fee.
In May of this year, the City broke ground on the new Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Golf Course Club House. The old club house was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and was demolished last month. The new $4.3 million club house will include cart storage and a community classroom.
In November 2011, the City reopened the fully renovated, $9 million Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Municipal Golf Course in Pontchartrain Park. The golf course is an 18-hole, par 72-course measuring between 5,314 yards to 6,823. Originally opened as the Pontchartrain Golf Course in 1956, the Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Golf Municipal Course was renovated in 1979 and renamed to honor the first African-American inducted in the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
