NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans activated the Joint Information Center (JIC) at City Hall's Office of Homeland Security to serve as central point of contact for members of the media covering Hurricane Nate.
The JIC is set up as a collaborative communications model for crisis communications during emergency responses and other situations in which multiple organizations need to collaborate to provide timely, useful and accurate information to the public and other stakeholders.
The JIC will be staffed 24 hours a day for the duration of the storm.
All communications regarding storm preparedness will go through the JIC during this time. This includes City of New Orleans, Sewerage and Water Board, Louis Armstrong Airport, RTA, NOPD, NOFD, and EMS.
