NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the 2018 Krewe du Vieux and krewedelusion parades scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018. The City encourages the public to be patient and prepared for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas and to make transportation arrangements accordingly.
Krewe du Vieux Parade
Starting at 6:30 p.m., the parade will begin on the corner of Decatur and Marigny Streets, and head towards Chartres Street. At Chartres Street, the parade will right, then turn left on Franklin Avenue, turn left on Royal Street, turn left on Frenchman Street, then turn right on Decatur Street. The parade will proceed down Decatur Street, turn right on Dumaine Street and then turn right onto Chartres Street, turn left on Barracks Street, turn left on Royal Street, turn left on Toulouse Street and proceed down to the 500 block of Toulouse Street where it will disband.
Immediately following Krewe du Vieux at 7 p.m., krewedelusion will begin at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Royal Street and proceed down Royal Street, turn left on Frenchman Street and then turn right on to Decatur Street, then turn right on Dumaine Street, turn right on Chartres Street, turn left on Barracks Street, turn left on Royal Street, continue down Royal Street, turn right on Toulouse Street and proceed down Toulouse Street to the corner of North Rampart Street where it will end.
Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop sign. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.
