Mayor Landrieu to Welcome Ambassador of France Gerard Araud to New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will welcome the Ambassador of France in the U.S., Gérard Araud, during his first official visit to New Orleans. Ambassador Araud’s visit will underscore the rising success of French immersion programs throughout the state, as well as the vibrant growth of commercial trade and economic partnerships between France and Louisiana.

City to Announce Accolades for Healthy Vending, Food Service Policy

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans will announce a progressive approach to improving the workplace environment through vending and food service guidelines designed to drive healthier eating habits. These guidelines will provide strong nutritional standards for vending machines on City properties, thus giving City employees and residents access to healthier options.

City Announces Sale of Blighted Lake Terrace Shopping Center

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans announced that the former Lake Terrace Shopping Center at 1532 Robert E. Lee Blvd. in the Gentilly neighborhood will be redeveloped by local developer Kenneth Lobell. Since it was flooded during Hurricane Katrina, this private property has sat blighted and vacant.

City to Hold Lottery for Jackson Square Artists and Vendors

NEW ORLEANS —Today, the City of New Orleans announced that it will hold a lottery for qualified artists and vendors to obtain permits necessary to sell art in Jackson Square in the French Quarter on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.

NORDC Hiring Over 100 Summer Lifeguards

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) is hiring over 100 lifeguards for the summer 2016 pool season. Public safety is our top priority, so all NORDC lifeguards are required to have a lifeguard certification.

City Announces Meetings on Proposed Historic Districts

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans announced the schedule for the Historic District Landmarks Commission Study Committee meetings for Uptown/Carrollton and Mid City/Parkview. The Uptown/Carrollton and Mid City/Parkview Study Committees will meet to discuss the boundaries, levels of jurisdiction and surveys for the proposed historic districts.
