Neighborhood Cares Initiative

Neighborhood Cares Initiative

On Saturday, March 9th from 9AM-12PM, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office (NEO) will hold a Neighborhood Cares Day at Digby Playground (6600 Virgilian St.) in New Orleans East. This is the first Neighborhood Cares Initiative (NCI) event of 2024.

The event will consist of a community cleanup, resource fair, music, a clothing giveaway, free groceries, and free food for the community. City departments will be out in the field addressing quality of life concerns identified by the neighborhood.

Volunteers are needed to make the event a success. At the event, volunteers will make improvements to the playground as well as beautify the surrounding area. While supplies last, volunteers will receive lunch and a free t-shirt.

NEO is proud to work with with District D Councilmember Eugene Green, Culture of Cleanliness, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, We Dat's Chicken and Shrimp, Pee Wee's Crabcakes, Le Roux's Chicken Shack, Thrive New Orleans, and Giving Hope NOLA.
