City Celebrates Opening of Newly Renovated NOPD Third District Police Station and Training Academy

by Justyn A. Hawkins, Neighborhood Liaison

On September 5, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined City officials to celebrate the opening of the renovated $2.4 million NOPD Third District Station (4650 Paris Ave.) and $3 million Training Academy (4650 Paris Ave.). NOPD also launched its 181st recruit class. The 11,585 square foot Police Station and 24,000 square foot Training Academy are state-of-the-art, hurricane resilient facilities. Post renovation, the NOPD Third District building and the Training Academy traded locations to better utilize building space.

Special thanks to Lena Williams, ally of the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office and passionate neighborhood advocate, for her words of encouragement and celebration regarding this exciting asset in the 3rd Police District.
