Administrative Hearings for Code Violations

Code Enforcement regularly holds adjudication hearings on specific blighted properties. Property owners who have received a notice to appear should review Code Enforcement's recommended checklist of important documents to bring to their hearing.

Key Information:

  • Owners may email documentation prior to the hearing, including photos or other information
  • The general public may also email comments prior to the hearing
  • Send emails to codeenforcement@nola.gov with "HEARING" and the property address in the subject line
  • Example: "HEARING - Documentation for 123 Main Street"

Code Enforcement

One Stop Enforcement & Adjudication

One Stop Shop Enforcement and Adjudication seeks to obtain compliance with codes and ordinances through the City's administrative adjudication process. Property owners with outstanding violations are scheduled for hearings before a hearing officer.

Important Details:

  • Hearing officers can levy fines up to $500 per day
  • Fines continue daily until violations are corrected
  • Hearings held at 1340 Poydras Street, Suite 1100
  • Public records requests: nola.nextrequest.com

Required Documentation:

  • Dated photographs of the property
  • Recent contracts/bids for repairs
  • Proof of financing for repairs
  • Ownership documentation
  • Any additional relevant documentation
