Short Term Rental Interim Zoning District

On May 24, 2018, the City Council passed an Interim Zoning District (IZD) prohibiting the following uses in the Historic Core, Historic Urban, Central Business Districts, MU-1 Mixed Use Medium Intensity, and MU-2 Mixed Use High Intensity Districts:

  • Any issuance or renewal of a Temporary Short Term Rental permit or license.
  • Any issuance of a Commercial Short Term Rental permit or license for STR-use on the first floor of a multi-story building that can or may contain residential uses on subsequent floors.

The IZD provides the ability for property owners to appeal the prohibition through a process that includes City Planning Commission staff review and City Council consideration. The application for appeal can be found at the following link:
