Demolition Dashboard
Tracking our Commitment to Fighting Blight
The City of New Orleans is rich in history and culture. Throughout the City, there are both historical and classical structures in every neighborhood. These structures tell the story of our communities.
Unfortunately, some have been neglected. They now pose a serious safety and health risk to our city. The Department of Code Enforcement (DCE) mission remains unchanged:
To protect the health, safety, and welfare of the general public by eliminating blight, graffiti, and overgrown lots. The department enforces building codes against properties that are determined to be public nuisances. Enforcement ensures that every building is in compliance with the City Code of Ordinances.
Through its commitment to reduce the impact of blight in the City, the DCE will continue to help improve the quality of life for all citizens by educating the community on code ordinances and requirements, enforcing standards, and mitigating hazards which adversely affect the quality of life of all New Orleanians.
The DCE is responsible for performing emergency operations to abate imminently dangerous conditions to life, health, property, and public safety. Enforcement of the City's Minimum Property Maintenace Code is handled through Administrative Heatings, graffiti abatement, and enforcement of City laws related to overgrown lots and other nuisances. Pursuant to City Ordinance No. 29822, this dashboard tracks all of DCE's demolitions beginning in January 2024.
To report a blighted property, graffiti, or excessive weeds and grass, contact 311 to begin to Code Enforcement process. Hearing information can be obtained here or by calling (504) 658-5050.
