Our office will remain available via phone and email at 504-658-4240, 504-658-4232, and ocd@nola.gov. We will resume in-office operations on February 17 at 8:00 AM.
The emergency rental assistance program is suspended until further notice. Since 2020, the office of housing policy and community development has assisted over 28,000 households with rental and/or utilities assistance.
If you are facing eviction and need legal representation, please contact southeast lousisana legal services at (504)529-1000.
Welcome to the Office of Community Development (OCD)! We're a team dedicated to making the neighborhoods of Orleans Parish better places to live, work, and play.
At OCD, we have six units that work together to support our communities:
- Planning & Resource Development Unit: Responsible for stategic planning and community development
- Neighborhood Services & Facilities Unit: Make sure everyone has access to important community resources like parks and community centers.
- Affordable Housing Unit: Work hard to ensure that everyone can find a nice, affordable place to call home.
- Environmental Compliance Unit: Oversee our projects to make sure they're safe for the environment.
- Intake Bureau Unit: Help people sign up for the programs and services they need.
- Construction Unit: Build and fix up houses and other buildings to make our neighborhoods look great.
One important thing to know is that OCD receives money from the federal government to help our city. We carefully choose local organizations that can use this money to help the most people in the best way possible. While we can't give money directly to individuals for home repairs, we can connect you with resources that may be able to assist you.
Our goal is to create neighborhoods that everyone can be proud of, and we do that by providing affordable housing, creating jobs, and offering special programs for those who need extra support. We believe that by working together, we can make New Orleans a city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
