The Annual Action Plan enables the City of New Orleans to utilize federal funds to improve its for all New Orleans citizens to live in vibrant neighborhoods with a range of affordable safe, quality affordable housing options neighborhoods and create opportunities for its citizens. OCD’s vision is for all New Orleans citizens to live in vibrant neighborhoods with a range of safe, quality housing options that are affordable; with access to jobs, services, and neighborhood amenities that support individual families well-being and quality of life. Successful implementation of this vision depends on addressing challenges and impediments, including limited resources and funding constraints. The City of New Orleans will utilize a combination of strategies to transform a broad vision into clear actions that will result in a more resilient and sustainable New Orleans with vibrant neighborhoods, including more quality affordable housing and community development services in neighborhoods for individuals and families to call HOME. The Consolidated Plan is consistent with the City and HANO’s ‘Assessment of Fair Housing Plan (AFH) and works closely with housing and community development sub-recipients to achieve OCD’s goals of building and preserving affordable housing initiatives and providing community development services to citizens. Mayor Cantrell has said from day one of her administration that providing quality Affordable Housing and Community Development Services, meeting people where they are, and helping get them to where they want to be is a top priority.
