What We Do

The Mayor’s Community Engagement Office (CEO) is the City of New Orleans government’s permanent commitment to public participation in government decision-making and a mechanism to create opportunities for dialogue, information sharing, partnership, and action with neighborhood residents, leaders, and organizations.

CEO promotes neighborhood participation and information-sharing between City government and the public in order to foster greater neighborhood partnership and communication with City departments and agencies to promote positive outcomes and ultimately to improve a neighborhood’s quality of life.

Coffee on Your Corner

Join us at a local venue in your neighborhood for coffee with City officials who will share information about programs, initiatives, and operations. Coffee on Your Corner brings City government directly to you in a convenient, casual setting.

Civic Leadership Academy

Held every Spring and every Fall, Civic Leadership Academy (CLA) is an engaging 8-week program that provides residents with an in-depth look at City government.

Police Community Advisory Board

The Police Community Advisory Board (PCAB) is a district-based participation structure that creates one seven-member PCAB per NOPD District (8 total). PCAB members serve a 24-month term.

All In Treme Back to School Fair

As NEO’s fourth installment of its “Neighborhood Cares Initiative” this year, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office (NEO) held its largest Back-To-School Fair to date on this past Friday, August 1st, at the Treme Rec Center, an impactful community initiative designed to help students prepare for the upcoming school year. The event drew thousands of residents for a day filled with resources.

On Saturday, May 24th, the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office (NEO) held the second Neighborhood Cares Initiative Community Day of 2025 at Eastshore Playground.

On Saturday, March 22nd, the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office (NEO) held the first Neighborhood Cares Initiative Community Day of 2025 in Gert Town. 

Over 75 volunteers spent the morning participating in park improvements and cleaning the community, collecting over 50 trash bags, and cleaning 20 catch basins.  City departments  cut over 17 overgrown lots, filled 98 potholes, removed 15 abandoned vehicles and cleared dumping sites throughout the neighborhood.

On Saturday, February 1st and Sunday, February 2nd, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office along with the Department of Public Works held a two-day Love Your City: Citywide Cleanup event.
