The Faith-Based initiative is designed to connect leaders of faith to City departments, opportunities, and resources to address community needs. This initiative was created to strengthen the relationship between the City of New Orleans and its Faith leaders. Through a series of events, coordinated by our office, such as Faith-Based Community Office Hours, Coffee on Your Corner, and Luncheons, Faith leaders are able to convene, network, and receive information to share with their congregations. In order to continue to nurture and cultivate a meaningful and thoughtful relationship with all leaders of faith in our City, the Faith-Based Coordinator in our office continues to make himself available at our events during the week in the morning and evening.

Annual Leading Ladies of Faith Gathering
In our ongoing efforts to maintain a connection with members of our all-encompassing faith community, the Neighborhood Engagement Office hosted its annual Leading Ladies of Faith Gathering on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, at The Arbor Room at Pop Fountain in City Park. The evening was a time of empowerment, encouragement, and education for female leaders in the faith community throughout the metro New Orleans area.
Over 100 faith leaders gathered, joined by Mayor LaToya Cantrell, NOHD Director Dr. Jennifer Avegno, City Attorney Donesia Turner Morrison, OCJC Commissioner Tenisha Stevens, and OYF Director Asya Howlette, each a trailblazer in leadership for the City of New Orleans.
Centered around the theme “Passing the Torch,” the program explored how current leaders can mentor, inspire, and prepare the next generation of women to step boldly into positions of influence. Attendees engaged in an intentional moment of fellowship marked by resilience and the shared responsibility of building stronger communities.
