City Council Proposes Increases to Mardi Gras Parade Permits

The Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Council, facilitated by the Office of Cultural Economy, worked with city leaders to establish a proposal to implement a new tiered permit fee system for Mardi Gras krewes.

The proposed system would charge smaller krewes $5,000, mid-sized krewes $7,500, and the largest krewes $10,000.

Mardi Gras parade permit fees have not seen an increase since the Nagin administration. The proposed ordinance is for 5 years but can be revisited before the 2031 carnival season.
