Purpose

The Revenue Estimating Conference prepares and publishes initial and revised estimates of money which is to be recognized for the current and next fiscal year by the City general fund and all other City operating funds. These estimates are based upon standards promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and are to be known as the "official forecast." The conference meets at least quarterly.

Composition

Six members.

  • The Mayor, who serves as chair;
  • The Chief Administrative Officer;
  • The Director of Finance;
  • The Mayor appoints a faculty member of a college or university in New Orleans who has expertise in forecasting revenues or in a related field with approval of the City Council; 
  • The City Council selects a Councilmember, and
  • The City Council selects a non-voting Councilmember pursuant to Exec. Order LC 18-06.
