Housing Trust Fund Seeks Input from Roofing Contractors on New FORTIFIED Program

The Finance Authority of New Orleans (FNO) and New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) are inviting FORTIFIED roofing contractors and implementation partners to help shape upcoming Housing Trust Fund roofing programs designed to strengthen homes against severe weather.

Two listening sessions will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at NORA's office located at 1409 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard. Contractors can choose between a 9:00-10:00 AM session or an 11:00 AM-12:00 PM session.

The sessions aim to gather valuable industry input as the city develops new roofing programs under the Housing Trust Fund umbrella. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about upcoming program opportunities for contractors
  • Provide feedback on program implementation strategies
  • Discuss partner participation requirements and capacity
  • Share insights on challenges, timelines, and program delivery methods
  • Help shape future FORTIFIED roofing initiatives in New Orleans

"We want to ensure our roofing programs are practical, effective, and accessible for both contractors and homeowners," said a representative from Finance New Orleans. "Getting input from experienced FORTIFIED contractors early in the development process is crucial to creating successful programs."

The FORTIFIED building standard, developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety, focuses on strengthening homes against severe weather damage, particularly high winds and hurricane conditions common to the Gulf Coast.

Who Should Attend:

  • Program implementation stakeholders
  • Construction partners
  • FORTIFIED roofing contractors
  • Related implementation partners

Due to limited capacity, advance registration is required. Interested contractors can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or visiting Eventbrite.

The listening sessions are part of the city's broader effort to expand storm-resilient housing options for New Orleans residents while building a robust network of qualified contractors to support these initiatives.
