Electric bikes (e-bikes) are one of the fastest-growing ways New Orleanians get around — and they come with their own safety rules and risks. The NOHD Injury Prevention team's Crescent City E-Bike Program provides education, safety resources, and support to help residents ride e-bikes safely.

E-Bike Safety Tips 

• Always wear a helmet
• Know your e-bike's class and its legal speed limit.
• Ride with traffic, use bike lanes where available, and follow all traffic signals.
• Charge batteries safely — never leave them charging unattended or use damaged chargers.

E-Bike Voucher Program

•  The City of New Orleans will launch the Electric Bike (E-Bike) Incentive Program, offering in-store discounts on eligible e-bikes and safety accessories at participating New Orleans retailers.
