Reconnect NOLA: Free Community Device Repair Events

The City of New Orleans is excited to partner with NORDC, STEM NOLA, and the New Orleans Public Library to help residents to get their tech devices working at our Reconnect NOLA Community Device Repair Clinics.

The Basics

Who: New Orleans residents. Please bring proof of residence.

What: Laptops and Surface tablets, 2012 or newer; up to two devices per household.

Desktop computers, servers, mobile phones, e-readers, external hard drives, printers, and fax machines are excluded. 

Where: Joe Brown Recreation Center with STEM NOLA, 5601 Read Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70127

Details: Back up your devices before the event and bring your chargers, cords, USBs and external hard drives.

Registration: If you plan to bring your device to the event, text “YES” to 504-290-0612.

Description of how we will assist you:
New Laptop/Tablet Setup 30 Set up your brand new laptop or tablet.
Virus/Spyware Cleanup 60-90 Remove viruses and spyware; install anti-virus protection.
Computer Cleanup 60-90 Remove temporary files & update the operating system.
Email Account Setup 20-30 Create a free email account of your choice (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail).
Basic Data Transfer & Backup 30-60 Transfer/copy files from your device to online (cloud) storage.
Basic Diagnosis and Troubleshooting 30-60 Assess machine performance, and tell you what it requires and whether we can repair it.
Software Installation/Upgrade 15-45 Install or upgrade your licensed software, or install free applications compatible with your device. 
Operating System Restores/Updates1,2 60-120 Restore your device to original factory settings.
We are unable to perform the following services:  File Recovery, Password Recovery, Operating System Software Installs, Physical Damage Repairs (broken screens, buttons, etc.) 1. Requires Original Factory Device Software on a CD or stored on your device 2. Not available less than 1.5 hours before event end time
