The G.R.O.W.W. Program offers a safe, supportive, and welcoming space for low to medium-risk young women involved with the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court. Designed to be more than just an alternative to detention, G.R.O.W.W. provides a sense of belonging where pre-adjudicated female youth, status offenders, and post-adjudication probation youth can thrive. These young women, who might otherwise face detention or removal from their homes, find a structured environment that emphasizes safety, belonging, and positive development.
The program’s primary goal is to prevent re-offense and ensure court appearances, while also fostering a community where youth can feel connected and valued. G.R.O.W.W. offers a safe haven during out-of-school hours, providing supervision and structured activities from the end of the school day. The program addresses the unique needs of young women in the juvenile justice system, diverting them from delinquent activities during peak hours of risk.
Through pre- and post-assessments, homework assistance, and life skills sessions with guest speakers, G.R.O.W.W. nurtures a supportive community. This environment not only holds participants accountable but also encourages their continued engagement with school, family, and their broader communities. G.R.O.W.W. is committed to providing a space where every young woman can feel safe, supported, and truly belong.
